Application Timeline
December 12, 2024- The High School Showcase at Volusia County Fairgrounds, applications live
January 8, 2025, 5-6pm OR January 11, 2025, 10-11am Essay session
January 31, 2025- All applications and application materials are due to Lisa Nehrig and in the FOCUS Parent Portal
February 12, 2025- Families notified via email and FOCUS Parent Portal of acceptance or denial
February 25, 2025- Families must complete the Declaration of Intent in FOCUS Parent Portal and/or via email to [email protected]
Application requirements:
Statement of Agreement
The International Baccalaureate Diploma programme is a rigorous academic program. Meeting eligibility requirements does not guarantee admission to the program and the decision of the selection committee will be final. Your child's acceptance into the DeLand High School pre-IB program is a one year commitment. Transportation for students who live outside of the attendance zone for DeLand High School is the responsibility of the student and family.
Parent commitment
Your child will need daily uninterrupted study time. Daily attendance is vital to your child's success. We request that you schedule vacations and other recreational trips during school holidays.

- I submitted my application. Now what? - Your application is being evaluated and that takes some time.
- When will I know if I have been accepted? You will be notified via Parent Portal and/or email
- What if I don't hear from the IB office? You can email Mrs. Nehrig, [email protected], with any questions you may have.
- What do I need to do if I have been accepted? Submit your Letter of Intent and Statement of Agreement to Mrs. Nehrig and indicate your intent via FOCUS Parent Portal
- Is the essay still required as part of the application? Yes, the essay is still a required part of the application and must be written at DHS during one of the two sessions being offered. If your student missed the essay sessions they must email [email protected]

- an academic (ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies) GPA of no less than 2.5
- FAST ELA and Math scores of no less than 3
- Completion of at least Algebra I and a passing EOC score by the end of 8th grade
- 3 teacher recommendations- English, Math and one other- NOT PE

- Follow ALL rules of DeLand High School and Volusia County Schools.
- Show respect for fellow students, teachers and administrators at all times.
- Actively participate in class by being prepared.
- Submit quality work- that is their own.
- Maintain an overall unweighted GPA of no less than 2.5
- Make every effort to be in school every day.
- Assume responsibility for any absences by getting any missing work and completing it in a timely manner.
- Maintain the highest degree of conduct and academic integrity or risk removal from the program.
- Make a commitment to complete the IB Diploma Programme.
